JON R. MOWER

Jon R. Mower was born and raised in Southern California.  He attended Stanford University on an academic scholarship and participated in intercollegiate football and boxing.  He graduated with honors in 1972 with a degree in psychology.  Mr. Mower attended UCLA School of Law where he was a member of the Law Review and received the American Jurisprudence Award in Labor Law.  After graduating from UCLA in 1976, Mr. Mower joined the Los Angeles litigation firm of Haight, Brown & Bonesteel where he worked as a defense trial lawyer.  In 1980, he joined the firm of Rigg & Dean (later Rigg, Dean & Mower) where he continued to litigate complex personal injury, medical malpractice, business tort, and insurance law matters.  In 1986, Mr. Mower was one of the founding partners of Mower, Koeller, Nebeker & Carlson.  During this time his practice shifted from representing primarily defense interests to representing plaintiffs and injured persons.  He focuses on the trial of complex litigation matters including serious personal injury, class actions involving employment and consumer rights cases, professional negligence, products liability, and insurance disputes.  In 2001, he joined with his current partners in forming Mower, Carreon & Desai, LLP.

Mr. Mower has accumulated a wide experience in civil litigation. He has tried over 50 cases to verdict and has handled over 3,000 litigation matters in his career.  He has handled cases in all the courts in Southern California  both State and Federal as well as cases in Arizona, Florida and New York.  He has obtained successful verdicts and settlements involving automobile, products liability, professional malpractice, wrongful termination, employment discrimination, and insurance disputes.  Mr. Mower was recently accepted as a member of the exclusive “Million Dollar Advocates Forum” and the “Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum” which are two of the most prestigious groups of trial lawyers in the United States.  This membership is afforded to less than 1% of U.S. lawyers.  Mr. Mower has lectured throughout Southern California  in the areas of civil litigation and trial practice.  He is admitted to practice in the State of California and in the United States District Courts for the Central and Southern Districts, and the Northern District of Arizona as well as the Ninth Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.  Mr. Mower has received the highly prized AV® Peer Rating from Martindale-Hubbell the largest and most respected attorney rating organization in the country, an honor reserved for less than 1% of practicing attorneys. 

He has also been named a “Southern California Super Lawyer” which involves a peer review selection process restricted to no more than 5% of the attorneys in the state.

Mr. Mower is a frequent lecturer and panelist at continuing legal education programs involving trial and class action law.

He is a member of the Consumer Attorneys of California, the primary attorney group in the state devoted to the rights of consumers and injured persons, and the American Association of Justice, the national trial attorney association whose mission is to protect the rights of ordinary people in our system of justice.  Mr. Mower is also a member of the California Employment Lawyers Association, the organization devoted to protecting the rights of workers by assuring equal access to the court system and joining with other employment lawyers to strengthen the litigation position of employees.  His practice focuses on the trial of class action and complex personal injury and employment cases.
